The Idea
After talking to many employers about managing risk to pregnant worker it became evident that most employers see Safety and Health through the lens of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). It was alarming to me at how much of a knowledge gap and management deficit existed in industry with respect to managing risk to pregnant worker.
First9 is a mobile application designed to assess the user’s knowledge on reproductive and developmental issues in the workplace. At first the mobile application was developed as a tool to use during consultations with clients to assess their knowledge, however it was eventually expanded to allow workers the ability to access general information on risk management during pregnancy.

Project Gallery
This application was primarily used during consultation meetings with clients or
potential clients. The goal of the assessment is to gauge the employer knowledge quickly and
efficiently on managing risk to pregnant workers. The application is still going through rounds of
revisions in order to figure out the most appropriate way to provide the relevant information to
workers.
